Cut off mark is the mark set by the authority or board that conducts an exam, which is considered as the passing or clearing level of the exam.

Based on cut off mark, candidates are shortlisted for the further stages of selection process.

Cut off varies for different exams, it varies with availability of vacancies and competition level.

Here is an example to illustrate what a cut of mark is.

If there are ten persons writing an exam to become a clerk in a bank but the total Vacancy is 2, so the bank needs to eliminate some candidates and retain few for next level of selection say interview, so they put up a cut off which is probably an above average mark for the exam conducted thus eliminating few low scorers and selecting others for next level. Official FUTMINNA Cut Off Mark 2019

The official JAMB and Post-UTME cut off mark for FUTMINNA is 160. Following the scrapping of Post-UTME by federal government, the Joints Admission and Matriculation board (JAMB) had given a bench mark of 180 and above for candidates applying for Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education. For this reason, FUTMINNA as followed suit to placed their cut off mark at 180.

But the question that might be bordering you remains: what about those that had 180 and above but was not still given the admission to study my desired course?

You have to know this; candidates with higher scores are first considered; in admission basics, candidates with lower scores though might meet the cut off mark of 180 may likely not be admitted. In fact, it is the higher your scores, the higher the chance of being admitted.

FUTMINNA Departmental Cut-off Mark 2019

Most Universities, including Federal University of Technology, Minna, FUTMINNA does not really have a specific cut off mark for courses. Nevertheless, prospective candidates who have scored a minimum of 180 in UTME examination is deem eligible to apply for admission for any of their choice courses.

Eligibility For FUTMINNA Pre-Admission Screening Exercise

Candidates are hereby notified that the screening exercise shall be conducted using the Computer-Based Test (CBT) platform.


(i)         Only UTME and DE candidates who selected FUT Minna are eligible for the screening exercise.

(NOTE: if you changed institution to Federal University of Technology Minna, You May/May Not be able to login. However, we advice that you keep checking as the database will be updated based on data received from JAMB).

(ii)        UTME Candidates MUST have scored NOT LESS than the indicated minimum scores for various Schools/Courses/Programmes in the 2017 UTME as shown below:

(iii)       Candidates MUST meet the minimum UTME scores for their chosen courses, have the right UTME subject combinations as prescribed in the JAMB Brochure and the requisite ‘O’ Level subjects at credit level.

(iv)       However, candidates who do not meet any of the above requirements will be allowed to change to any other course whose requirements are met by the candidates.  The change of course will attract a processing fee of N1,000 only payable at the screening venue.

(v)        All candidates must possess a minimum of five ‘O’ Level credits including Mathematics and English Language at not more than two sittings in subjects relevant to their proposed courses.

(vi)       Only ‘O’ Level result print-out(s) downloaded directly from the website(s) of the national examining bodies (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) or photocopies of the original certificate(s) will be accepted for verification.  Candidates that already have their ‘O’ Level results MUST bring the results to the screening venue.  Failure to do so will result in disqualification of candidates.

(vii)      Candidates awaiting results will be allowed to participate in the UPASE but MUST submit such results not later than Friday 30th September, 2017.  For submission of such results, candidates are to go back to their registration page on the University website to update their records or submit hard copies of the results to the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at the Main Campus, Gidan Kwano.


(viii)     Candidates that choose to submit their results online should print the acknowledgement slips after uploading.

NOTE:  Any false declaration could lead to a candidate’s disqualification at any stage of the admission process.
