The Master of Business Administration degree originated in the United States in the early 20th century when the country industrialized and companies sought scientific approaches to management.

About The School

Just like the name sugest, Harvard Business School is a graduate business school of the University of Harvard in Boston, Massachusetts. The school offers a large full-time MBA program as well as doctoral programs, HBS and many other executive programs. It owns also the Harvard Business Publishing which publishes business books, leadership articles, online management tools for corporate learning, case studies and the monthly Harvard Business Review. It is home to the Baker Library/Bloomberg Center.

HBS was set up in 1908 and was initially set up by the humanities faculty. HBS received independent status in 1910 and became a separate administrative unit in 1913. The first Dean which was an historian-Edwin Francis Gay.

HBS has set up nine global research centers an four regional offices and functions through offices in Asia Pacific.

There is a unique application for Visiting Undergraduate Students from another institution who spend a semester or year studying at Harvard. The requirements include:

$75 application fee

Harvard Business School Application

There are 3 steps in the application process

    • GMAT/GRE Score
    • TOEFL/ IELTS/ Pearson Test of English (PTE) –  Make sure you get a TOEFL score higher than 109 on the iBT, an IELTS score higher than 7.5, or a PTE score higher than 75.
