Trinidad and Tobago is a dual-island Caribbean nation near Venezuela, with distinctive Creole traditions and cuisines. Trinidad’s capital, Port of Spain, hosts a boisterous carnival featuring calypso and soca music. Numerous bird species inhabit sanctuaries such as the Asa Wright Nature Centre. The smaller island of Tobago is known for its beaches and the Tobago Main Ridge Forest Reserve, which shelters hummingbirds.

Trinidad & Tobago Visa Application Requirements and Qualifications

Different countries often have different procedures and eligibility requirements for different types of visa applications (Study, Visit, Business or Work Visas). For instance, it is possible for you to be eligible for a Trinidad & Tobago Transit Visa while being refused a Study, Work or Business visa based on same present condition. Below, we summarized some of the eligibility requirements for a Trinidad & Tobago Work Visa.

These are the requirements for a Business visa.

  1. Two completed visa application forms (duly signed by the Applicant);
  2. Two recent coloured passport size photographs;
  3. Passport valid for at least six months for the duration of intended stay in Trinidad and Tobago;
  4. Non-refundable visa fee of Four Thousand Naira;
  5. Current Financial Statement for the last three months before the date of application;
  6. Payment of refundable security bond deposit in the sum of N560,000.00 per applicant. This is refundable after the visitor departs Trinidad and Tobago and returns to Nigeria. Refund is processed within one week of the request. Only the applicant can request and collect a refund;
  7. Formal letter of invitation from person to be visited in Trinidad and Tobago or a confirmed hotel reservation. Formal letter of invitation must include document showing the person’s immigration status in Trinidad and Tobago, if the person is not a national of Trinidad and Tobago. Invitation letter should also clearly state the name, address and contact details of person inviting applicant. Informal e-mail invitations will not be accepted;
  8. Travel/Flight Itinerary;
  9. The original medical qualifications and registration certificate with Medical and Dental Board of Nigeria are required for Medical Practitioners visiting Trinidad and Tobago. Certified copies are accepted;
  10. Introduction Letter from applicant’s employer valid – three (3) months before the date of application;
  11. Monthly Pay-slip valid 3 months before the date of application;
  12. Proof of business, i.e. registration document from the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria;
  13. A letter from the applicant’s company detailing the purpose of visit, duration of stay and contact details of Company/Organization in Trinidad and Tobago is required. Kindly note that travelling salesmen with no established agents in Trinidad and Tobago require a licence if they are entering for the purpose of receiving or soliciting orders;
  14. Two copies of all the required documents must be submitted with the originals.

Most Visa Applications that I know of are often rejected. But why is this so? Below are the reasons why Most Visa applications are often rejected.

  • Submission of fraudulent documents.
  • If the applicant has previously been deported from the United Kingdom.
  • If the applicant has served a jail term of four years or more.
  • If the applicant is withholding information regarding previous crime convictions.
  • If it is noticed that the applicant lacks the necessary funds.
  • Submission of falsified documents on previous visits to the United Kingdom or overstaying previous visits.
